Curriculum Connections: Japanese Folktales, Language Arts, SEL Development
The five folktales featured in this show share themes of kindness, perseverance, humbleness and courage with a playful look into Japanese culture and stories.
Folktales are an important part of Japanese culture and often teach important lessons. The five stories featured in this show are part of the Mukashibanashi or the “tales of long ago.” The Carp Who Would Not Quit, The Crane Who Was Grateful, The Rabbits Making Mochi In the Moon, The Mice and the Musubi, and The Shisa and The Sea Serpent share themes of kindness, perseverance, humbleness, and courage with a playful look into Japanese culture and stories.
